Dalle De Verre

Cast glass set in an epoxy matrix. This techniques was developed in France in the mid fifties. Extremely durable as the glass is 1" thick. Perfect for public settings!

The resin matrix has the same expansion rate! I make the flowers with scrap glass lying around the shop.

Some of these images are part of an ongoing series "Architectural Reliquaries".

Through this series, I invite the viewer to meditate on cultural wonders juxtaposed on the canvas of the present day. For example, a gothic rose window with cast glass flowers in reds, pinks, and oranges, are set in a field of cool colors.
